Re: How to convert a string to a number

Thanks for the replys! :) Unfortunately real-life took alot more of my time last year than in previous years, and I didn't really get alot of "Making" done in Q3/Q4 2012 and the first part of this year. Since then I've fallen in love with Robotics, and have had to weigh the pro's and con's...

Adafruit 16 Channel Servo Driver @7.4Volts?

Adafruit, I have been working on a robot project, a FLORA project and RiderScan for many months now, with work really kicking my butt in the 2nd half of 2012. Fortunately this all changes after Sunday, and I won't have to work the crazy hours anymore - which means I get my Maker Life back!! :) That ...

Re: Measuring Gas-Tank Level via Microcontroller?

Hi John! Thank you again for the great suggestion! I took advantage of your advice and just ordered one from Amazon. :) You also gave me pause about the environment - I had considered the hot, cold, wet, greasy and vapors, but I had forgotten how bad they vibrate! I took some time this morning and a...

Re: Using Power from a Small Engine Alternator

John,

Thanks for the replies! That makes sense, I didn't know which part on the engine handled the regulation function.

In the spirit of Making and a desire to learn, I would like to take you up on your offer and build one. :) I'll contact you by PM!

Thanks. :)

Using Power from a Small Engine Alternator

Maker Community, Hello! My first robot project will involve turning my snow blowing into a autonimous droid that I will control via live video feed from my house. It will require both an Arudino Mega and a Rasberry Pi working together along with a dozen HiTec Servos (some waterproof, some super-troq...

Motor Shield and Big Stepper Compatible?

Adafruit, I've got a short-term (for me) project that I need some technical support with.. The project is called, "RiderCoup", and like the name says, is going to automate the opening/closing of the chicken-coup door using a stepper motor, as well as automatically fill the waterers and fee...

Re: Track Horse Movement

Thank you both for the reply and the link!

I'll check those out and will post back with my findings as the project progresses. I'm going to try the GPS, IR Leds and some other ideas.

Tracking a colored helmet or colored object is a great idea!

Cheers :)

Re: Track Horse Movement

Hmmmm your probably right - how quickly can I get updates from the GPS? I could try implementing that if the tracking is quick.

Thanks for the response!!

Track Horse Movement

I have a need to track a horse that is riding around an arena that is at least 100 feet wide and 150 feet long. My goal is to build a project using Adafruit parts that will track and focus a camera on a horse and rider as they ride around the ring. :) The challenge I have is that the ring will have ...

Re: RiderScan - a Horse / Barn Management System

After finishing the RiderScan prototype in spring 2011, I've been working on other projects while I collected the components part-by-part and Mike worked on the code. I'm just a few parts short of the 6 units I'll need (4 for production at +Misty Brae Farm, and 2 development units for my friend Mike...

Re: RiderCool - an Arduino/Adafruit Pool Management System

Here is an overview diagram of the RiderCool controller itself, and how things are organized on the mega shield (it was a very tight fit!): RiderCoolControlModuleOverview800.png I've added the RiderCool sketch, blender file, and all the .stl 3d model files used to create the RiderCool base on a new ...

Re: RiderCool - an Arduino/Adafruit Pool Management System

Overall I'm very happy - no actually I'm totally pumped about my 3D printer! Clearly the technology is still new, and I have to tweak and tweak as I learn how to get the prints to come out right, but I don't care - its AWESOME!! I mean, look at this strange thing! . RiderPool3DprintedBase1800.JPG . ...
