Hello,
i have some problems with the shield that I bought few days ago.
1) one chip looks like broken, it is possible see an hole on its surface.

2) with the multimeter is possible to see that poles are connected to one another and to ground as well, is it normal?

Looks like the H-brige chip was overloaded. Sometimes they fail 'open circuit' and sometimes closed. Looks like yours was the latter failure mode. What were you using for a motor and power supply?

I used two stepper motors for 2.5A each (NEMA 17) and 11V power supply (controlled by multimeter). I followed this instruction: http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-moto ... ll-headers

This controller is only rated for 1.2A per channel. http://www.adafruit.com/products/1438#DescriptionI used two stepper motors for 2.5A each
