If I put items that are back ordered into my cart, can I pay for them and when they are in stock my order will automagically be filled and shipped.

hi david,

thanks for the note, we do not allow back orders on most/all items at this time so you'll only be able to place an order for what's in stock. if something is not in stock just sign up on the product page and you'll get an email once it's back in stock.

very possible, amazon sometimes has counterfeit versions of adafruit products - for the case we open-sourced it so it might just be a variation which is totally ok.
