KAP Timing Circuit

Postby deek » Fri Jul 22, 2005 2:41 pm

I saw the article in my latest issue of MAKE about using a disposable digital camera and a 555 timer circuit to take pictures. I am currently working with a group to put a payload on a weather balloon and I want to hook up a disposable digital camera (similar to the one in the article). I figured out what contacts I need to short in order to turn on the camera and take a picture but for the life of me I cannot seem to get the example circuit to work.

The launch is on the 30th (have to rush it because funding didn't go through) Any help would be great.

if you want help, you'll have to be more specific about what isnt working.

If I use a low resistance(1K) the light will blink but as soon as I try to raise the resistance to get the period where I want (One picture ever 3min) it will not work at all.

Any thoughts?

I am using the same resistance in all three resistors. Anytime I go over 3K the circuit will not light up no matter how long I wait. When I check to see if there is a voltage across the capactors at a resistance over 3K it is 0.

I am going to check with one of my professors to see if we can figure out what the problem is and if not I will try and post a better decription of the problem.
