I just ordered a few pairs of the male/female 2-pin JST connectors, to go with my shiny neopixels.
First pair - matched, worked great.
I just setup a second pair, using dollhouse electrical foil tape for connections - that didn't work. Naturally, I assumed that my foil tape/connections were at fault, but after a few minutes of troubleshooting - I discovered that the male and female connectors were flipped.
I.e. - the two-conductor wiring has one wire labeled with off color striping. If you connect the male and female connectors - the striping should line up. The connectors are polarized/locking - i.e. they can only be connected together in one fixed orientation.
On this second-pair, the conductors are flipped!
I went through all of my connectors, all from the same order, and found the stripes as follows:
Female - 4 of one, 1 of the other.
Male - 3 of one, 2 of the other
This time it didn't fry anything, but someone else may not be so lucky.
Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Yes, these are designed for AC use. There is a note to that effect in the product descriptions:

Please note these are designed for use with EL wire/panel/tape which is AC. For that reason, you can't assume that the striped wire will match on the plug and socket sides!
