Why is shipping so expensive (to florida)?

Post by johnmcbride »

Hello, I was just browsing around and added a few items to my cart for a project i have with my kids. It was about 18 dollars in total (elwire and inverter). The problem i have is that the shipping of this is about 9$. Half or the order! and with no usps shipping to boot.

Can adafruit pleas explain why the shipping to florida is almost half of my order and is 9$? That seems to be way expensive these days. For example I went to another store and got shipping for a mere $2.03. I want to use adafruit for a lot of our projects but the shipping is cost prohibitive. Can you shed some light on this?

John

thanks for the note, depending on the order and the size, the usual shipping to residential address to florida via UPS ground is about $8. for some locations we have USPS, but for most locations we offer UPS only.

Thank you for the reply. I find it a little difficult though to accept the high price of shipping for such a simple order. It would seem that adafruit should offer a lower cost alternative for shipping. I mean shipping from NY to florida for 8$. thats a little high wouldnt you agree?
