Expensive shipping?

Post by Dougmeister »

I was very excited to get prompt, friendly help as I prepared to make my first order.

I added 2.5m of wire, a controller, and two (2) button-cell batteries to my cart. The sub-total came to $19.85.

The cheapest shipping option adds another $9.55 for UPS Ground.

So to get the items, I need to tack on 50% of the total price?

Surely there is a cheaper way to send this...!?

Hi, We are always working to find the best shipping options for our customers. On the whole we do pretty well for a small company, but we can't guarantee that we always have the best rate for all shipments to all locations.

One option is to order from one of our larger distributors like DigiKey or Mouser. Being much-much larger companies, they have a much higher shipping volume and can negotiate better rates from the major carriers.

I found a vendor on Etsy that will ship it for $2.99.

Don't get me wrong. I think that you guys know a lot more about this stuff than anyone on Etsy, but... that's a big difference in shipping costs.

Hi;
I just received a box from you Invoice 1002150.
Your company declared my box was 3 pounds.
UPS called it on the box 1 pound.

So what happened?

That is the ship estimate as well as the dimensional shipping costs for a package of that size/weight (about $10 for UPS ground to your location).

I am experiencing the same issue,I went to order the Pi Zero and it quoted me $13 and change to send it 2.5 hours away to NJ.You used to offer USPS at a better rate but the drop down menu isnt there anymore.

Thanks

Hi,
I also just cancelled my order for a Raspberry Pi 3 board due to the $10.55 shipping charge. For the size of this item it could have easily been sent USPS for much less than UPS Ground. Need to investigate better shipping options for I am sure many of your customers who are making small purchases.
Regards,
Bob Vinci

Need to investigate better shipping options
We are constantly investigating the viability of the shipping providers and use the best we can find. Those are not always the cheapest.

I was going to buy a BMP180 unit for 9.95 but the shipping was 13.94. Whats up with this? Will order some where else.

Try Mouser or DigiKey they may have better shipping rates. We charge what UPS charges us, no more.
