[solved] DIY-miniPOV3: initialization failed, rc=-1

Post by white_rabbit »

Hi. I tried to build a DIY-miniPOV3. When connecting it to 5V and to the serial Port of my Notebook (WinXP, no USB-Adapter), all 8 LED are turning on (no blinking).
When I tried to run either "make burn-fuse" or "make program-minipov" I get:
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again
*Sometimes* LED 2 and 3 turned on and off again once -- no further reaction.
I checked all connections -- seems correct to me. Any hints for me? What could be wrong?
Thank you.

[Update] I solved the problem with another programmer. I simply cut all the wires to COM1: and built this programmer to LPT1: --->
http://s-huehn.de/elektronik/avr-prog/avr-prog.htm [german]. Success -- my miniPOV3 works now.
