i can not use the squarewave of my x0xbox, it really sounds nothing like the hollow sound of my 303. any suggestions on getting that classic hollow sound?

sample?
it's the pulse width probably.. this is the most noticable aspect of the square as it's tied to frequency

try a higher beta transistor for q8

How high of a beta is usually recommended? I have a 320 in mine, and it's not quite 303 sounding.

that should be fine
although beta measurements vary from meter to meter

you can try a higher value one and see if it changes things
otherwise c11 would be my next guess
the electrolytic caps are only 20% tolerance at best

Have you gotten this resolved yet? I figured out on mine i used the wrong transistor at Q38.
