sorry... need to time out..!

c33 was 1nf (polyester) first. made it 10nf (polystyrene) instead.

yeah, the square is based on the sawtooth right?

i just double checked
and c33 is the cap i thought it was
its the one right before the fet
it determines the sawtooth frequency

q26 is a voltage controlled current source
and it discharges c33 at a constant rate
so it makes a linear ramp
so if you make it one tenth the value
it will ramp down in one tenth the time
making frequencies ten times as fast

ill take your word for it
but it makes me think the old capacitor was mislabeled or something

anythinkg is possible in my stressfull life. but i did actually measured that cap with a fluke. thats how i was sure. first at sight i saw the size didnt match up with c10.

but i was wondering, was it actually the pitch of the tone or the curve of the waveform you were talking about?

your saying that c33 charges and then discharge. combined with just filtering out some signal, this cap might do a hell lot to the sound.

oh, so this is the cap for the sawtooth
cool

c33 determines the pitch of the note
and has little to do with its shape

i just had to make a test to be convinced(since i didnt experience any transpose when exchanging c33 from 1nf to 10nf).

and your absolutley right. when i add another 10nf cap to c33 i get like an octave down.

so i should prob leave my asumptions from the board. cause they doesnt make sence...

only thing i can say for sure is that when i changed c10 and c33 for polystyrene (wrong cap or not) i got it sounding with more harmonics.

peace!

my guess is that c34 and c33 got mixed up at some point in time

i can see how a different type of cap at c33
might make a difference in sound
the speed at which it can discharge will determine
how sharp the sawtooth is
and add more harmonics

at any rate
im glad its sounding better

i was really saticfied with this mod and i think it could be carried on.

this experimenting was started because of what can be heard in the dynamics of the 6110. the 6110 has a snappie start and doesnt sustain very well i think.

ive also had a feeling that the closing time of the gate is different between 6110 and 662 after just listening between my machines with same patterns playing.

after reading posts here and on another forum about what people hear, see and how the circuits are functioning, i might gonna tell the truth just now. :)

i think anto showd some curves that shows this in the "vca click be gone mod" thread.

when guest and anto whent thruough some circuits in the envelope i made an note about the how attack and decay works on the accent in the vca.

i also saw later on that my mod and that circuit are very similar.

so my plan is to copy the r119 r120 and c36 circuit to my mod.
c36 is of the same value and r119 and r120 sums up to the same value im using.

how ever...

im about to leave stockholm and get back to my hometown gothenburg in a few days. all my stuff is stuffed in boxes and i will not carry this experiment on before im home again.

but i thought id pass the idea to you for now.

what do you think?!?!?!
