You may also want to check if the kit contains tantalum caps for C42 and C62; some kits were shipped with ceramic caps instead.

Yeah they look like tantalums, at least they are certainly polarised (edit: or are they? Seems they should be blue, mine are brown. photo below).

Yes, those are tantalums. Don't worry about the color; they come in various colors anyway.

To save you from further frustration please check Q22 (the 2SC2291) and report the code printed on it.

I don't think so. The fake ones so far all had been stamped "89C" or "59C". I've seen only the latter myself.
