Resistor power rating.

Post by thomvass »

Hi all,

I am currently building an Xoxio and i have just gotten hold of some replacement resistors for the ones i misplaces for the kit. They are slightly larger, so have a higher power rating than the original ones. Would this be problematic?

Regards

No. Just stand them up to fit (just like on the main PCB). Resistors are just like caps, they just need to be able to handle the current going through them so using a 1/4 watt in place of an 1/8 watt is perfectly fine as long as there is enough room. Going higher actually is beneficial for critical parts (i.e. the DAQ) since the bigger parts dont self heat as much
