hello
i have this problem with a xoxbox atomic mod 2,
that is my first xoxbox and i have it from 2 days only (bought on ebay)
all seem to work correctly
but MIXOUT volume is very low
PHONE out work correctly
any idea to solve this problem please?
i am a noob but i have a multimeter and a soldering station
MIXOUT is very low volume, PHONE out volume is normal, please help

Re: MIXOUT is very low volume, PHONE out volume is normal, please help
you should just contact the seller and explain the issue
actually, try and monitor a simple pattern with cutoff/decay at max, resonance/envmod/accent at zero thru both outputs, with the volume knob at max too, and see at how many dB it peaks

the seller is not a compagny, it's second hand, so i would try to repair it by myself and will arrenge something with the seller
thank for the answer
i don't know if it's the correct way to do but i have plugged the xox MIXOUT in my mixtable then the master meter led blink @ -20db
and when i plugg PHONE out the leds peak are @ +3db

Re: MIXOUT is very low volume, PHONE out volume is normal, please help
the PHONES output would certainly be louder because it needs to power headphones
maybe this is normal, i can't say (can't test it myself right now)

Re: MIXOUT is very low volume, PHONE out volume is normal, please help
i don't think, because yesturday the sound was high in MIXOUT as in HEADPHONE out for few minutes, and then go back low
all seem to be well soldered near the MIXOUT jack socket
it's why i think about a defect component, or not solder in the good sense, i don't know

i have checked the volatage of IC15B, are they correct please ?
with BA6110 inserted :
1 -> 5.33V
2 -> 5.33V
3 -> 2.3V
4 -> 0V (with key -> 11.92v)
5 -> 2.2V
6 -> 5.29V
7 -> 5.29V
8 -> 5.35V
9 -> 11.92V
without BA6110 inserted :
1 -> 5.33V
2 -> 5.33V
3 -> 2.3V
4 -> 0V
5 -> 2.5V
6 -> 5.31V
7 -> 5.31V
8 -> 3.92V
9 -> 11.92V
thanks

No. The voltages on pins 3, 4 and 5 are not correct.ProFête wrote:i have checked the volatage of IC15B, are they correct please ?
First thing that jumps out is pin 3 and 5 - this should be at ground level (read: 0V). Please check if you have continuity between a ground point and pin 3 and 5.
The voltage change for pin 4 when pressing a key should also be much smaller (about 1.x volts).

Re: MIXOUT is very low volume, PHONE out volume is normal, please help
ok thanks for help, before, i'm not sure if i do the job correctly, that is the first time i do this
to check the voltage i had put one multimeter pin on any resistor pin near the IC15B and the other multimeter pin on a IC15B pin, is it the correct way ?
also the atomicsmod 2 is solder on the x0x http://www.x0xatomicmods.com/page/home/?124.html
maybe i need to unsold it before ?

While there is a small chance that this may provide the correct result it could also lead to completely wrong values.
Your multimeter probably has two leads: a black one and a red one. The black one needs to connect to ground. Usually a good ground connection is the metal tab of the 7805 regulator on the IOboard.
Connect the black lead to this metal tab and then measure (with the other lead) on the mainboard the two outer connections of the J4 connector. This should give you the 5.33V and 12V. If this works you can measure again the voltages on IC15B.

thank you
i checked J4 connector i have 5.33v and 11.91v
i got this on IC15B :
with BA6110 inserted :
1 -> 5.33V
2 -> 5.33V
3 -> 1.9V
4 -> changing
5 -> 1.8V
6 -> 5.29V
7 -> 5.29V
8 -> 5.35V
9 -> 11.92V
without BA6110 inserted :
1 -> 5.33V
2 -> 5.33V
3 -> 1.7V
4 -> changing
5 -> 1.7V
6 -> 5.31V
7 -> 5.31V
8 -> changing
9 -> 11.92V
thanks

There definitely is something wrong here: Both pin 3 and 5 are ground potential, so you shouldn't measure anything between ground and those two pins.
Since this also happens without IC15B the problem could be elsewhere.
Please check continuity between ground and pin 3 and 5.

ok thank, how can i proceed to check continuity between ground and pin 3 and 5 please ?
also is there a map to visualise the audio path and to know the correct voltage there should be each point ?

You need to measure the resistance between ground (for example the metal tab of the 7805 regulator) and pin 3 and 5. Your multimeter should have a resistance setting.ProFête wrote:ok thank, how can i proceed to check continuity between ground and pin 3 and 5 please ?

gives a couple of points. The voltages on IC15B look otherwise ok so far.
