5.333

Post by Guest »

I just completed the power supply, and my multi meter only goes to two decimal places. I adjusted the power supply to 5.33 - Should that be good enough?

THanks!

nope

imho you should go and get a new meter...

sorry but i am of those who say that 5333 is essential

(first to work very exact, later in tuning you may tweek a bit)

I tuned to 5.33, then 5.34, then back to 5.33, then up 1/3 of the way to where 5.34 was. That ought to get it pretty close, if you absolutely cannot get a hold of a meter with an extra digit.

some people think a little play in the tuning is good!

5.33 should be fine

hi,

its a Fluke 112

http://us.fluke.com/usen/Home/Search.as ... 12&x=6&y=7

Fluke 112 virtual product demo- nice ! ;)

I bought it at "Bürklin" here in Düsseldorf since i decided to go for "one" good
multimeter in the next -hm... 20 years what is reliable and exact...

...i finally added a cheep 10 Euro one by Voltcraft (BANNED) to do some hFE compare charts
(pssssst.... dont tell around ! loool)

The 112 ist the first on this series with backlit display - a feature i never would forego to

That's about the same as I paid for one at the local hardware store just to find the highest hFE among the lot. The displayed values were probably meaningless, but as a comparison was all that was necessary, who cares?

I've completed my power supply and everything appears to work. I went to set the 5.333 voltage and since my multimeter(s) only have two decimal places I just got it as close to 5.333 as I could. BUT then I went to check it with my other multimeter and it was only 5.30V!

Should I trust my crappy $20 RadioShack one or my crappy $20 Velleman one?

I'll try to find a better one I can use.

actually to get 5.333 if you only have a 5.33 readout would not be to turn it from 5.34 to 5.33 and then up 1/3rd.

Really the meter should read 5.33 when the voltage is between 5.325 and 5.335, so really you should make it read 5.34 and turn it down about a fifth ;)
