I spent a good part of yesterday doing this demo, it shows how close the x0xi0/x0b0x is to the TB-303.
There is such a thing as a 'flat' x0xb0x, one that just doesn't have that bite, liquidity, instability, acid, whatever it is... but if you carefully select your parts (Gaetano is a great source) it's indistinguishable.
There's also a version with much higher quality audio here...

I completely agree. I'm going through the same process with your x0xio now. I'm hoping to nail down the sound again just as I did here:

That's really interesting to see (and hear)... I really couldn't tell them apart. (Although, I wish the video had been clear enough so I could see how you'd set up your x0xi0.)
I think that the latter part of the video really shows a little bit of the 'danger' of the x0xi0 mod - you can just get completely lost in madness!

Re: x0xi0 vs TB-303
as far as i can tell, there is some difference in the square wave
the x0x has the same symmetry as on a 303, but there is something missing from it (it's an ugly edge on the smoother peak of the square wave that is missing on the x0x square)
btw, if someone has an oscilloscope, i really want to see either screenshots or a small video of the square wave right before it goes in the filter, at different frequencies (very low, medium and high)

below is the default setting to match 303. A lot of these details are coming with the completed user manualAlthough, I wish the video had been clear enough so I could see how you'd set up your x0xi0
