Light Sensor Mod Question

Post by synth505 »

Hey guys,

Just ordered a x0xb0x from Willzyx yesterday and i'm stoked to put it together. I've been looking through the web trying to decide the mods that I am going to do to it.

I came across this light sensor mod and really liked it, but I did not like the idea of how they implemented it, as I do not want to cut tracks, etc.

In reading on the Subatomic mod guide I saw the filter modulation mod. I was wondering if you think it would be possible to insert a light sensor in place of the oscillator modulating the filter by using the summing point for the filter.
Subatomic mod site - http://www.subatomicglue.com/x0xl0g/mod ... ation_VCO_

How would it be possible to set it up so that I can turn the cutoff all the way down and then use the light sensor to bring it up, or vice versa.

If this mod is possible instead of the one posted previously I would much rather mod it this way.

Would love some input!

I didnt like that mod. I did it for a customer who requested it and it just pretty much makes a mess. You really need something WAY slower as a modulation source than a VCO. I would say if you want to do the light sensor, do it like CV control of the VCF cutoff

You did the light sensor mod in the manner I described? I don't want to do the oscillator modulation as it would be too fast. I'm assuming a 555 LFO or something similar would be better for that kind of modulation. But I just want a photoresistor to control the cutoff (which I would think would be as fast/slow as you want it)

I want to get this type of action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHfbYJh6z4M
But going about it a different way then the CV manner.

I was referring to the filter mod, not the light sensor but I'm pretty sure that exact mod documented here somewhere..

hello there :)
i'm behind this cool mod
i used the i/o mix in to be my vcf cv in, if you dont want to do that its ok, there is another way, you can just do vcf cv in and thats it, dont cut any trace ;)
this is how

a vid clip of how it works (in Hebrew, sorry about that but youll get the point.
