Suboscillator

Postby creekree » Fri Sep 07, 2007 9:48 pm

i've played a little bit with a suboscillator and would like to put it into my b0x.
where to insert the suboscs signal?
i'd say into the vca, but is that correct? and if so, which is the input of the vca? i dont have the schematics around atm, so if someone could tell me that'd be nice.
further subosc suggestions are welcome as well!

you should try feeding it into
both the vcf and vca
and see which one sounds better

to feed the vca
use a resistor and capacitor
just like r121 and c21

It'd be great if you'd publish the schematics to the suboscillator when you've completed the mod. I'm very interested into equipping my x0x with one!

I would love to see this subosscillator in action.

Let me know how you go!

sorry guys, in the end i did not include the subosc in my x0x, i decided to make it be a part of my slowly growing modular synth.

This is the sub oscillator I did a a few years back when I was testing various mods for the x0xi0
kit. It's a digital suboscillator based on the MC-202. It works if anyone wants to give it a go.

to get to 12v and ground on the LM2903, is that pin 8 and 4, respectively?

mine (mostly) works on a 2-position switch. left out the diodes and -2 PWM option

-2 oct works great, but -1 oct has a problem somewhere. when i press around on some pads with my fingers i can get -1 to work... will sort that out eventually

very cool, thanks

edit: fixed; works now

I was thinking about making this, but with no switch and just two 100k B pots, one for each octave. I assume I would have to stick the the diodes before the pots. Does anyone have any input on if that would work with the current values, or if I should change anything.

Thanks.

I've built 3 of these now, and I'm finding that I have to connect the (+) pin (8) of the 2903 to pin 7 of the 4011 to get it to work properly (I'm using pins 4, 5, and 6 of the 4011).

this demo has some warble @ -2oct... I built a new one from the ground up that doesn't do that
