Huh? Can you replicate it? Because I test the stuff as master, slave(MIDI) and slave(DIN) and get no problems, everything is dead on. Are you sure you aren't sending lots of other banned down the MIDI connection?

My b0x won't respond to the c0ntr0l program. I have it in Bootload. WTF... :?

It should only be in bootload mode when uploading new firmware. For regular use of c0ntr0l the manual says: "Turn on your x0x in non-bootload mode. Ironically, you don't have to be in Computer Control mode (yet...there may be special functions)."

I know, i have it in bootload when trying to upload the OS. But it doesn't respond to the c0ntr0l program.

I got the OS to install finally. However, i'm noticing i can't alter the sequence length anymore. Can anyone confirm they can't either?

confirmed, it seems to save as 16 steps only, can save 6 step patterns for example, they jsut get padded to 16 steps.

Also the midi bug is still there, im sending only midi clock from mpc, x0x is set to pattern-midi sync, while running i change to pattern edit, make new pattern, press done to save, choose slot, press done and sync drops out. The sync isnt as bad as it used to be but it still does it.

The MIDI bug i can reproduce, it is minute, but noticable and annoying. It seems to miss a tick.

How are you setting the pattern length? I have no problems setting it by first clearing the pattern and then making a 8 step pattern and save it. Is there some other way that used to work but doesn't any more?

Just hit the Done button on the last step of the sequence while in REC mode. This doesn't work anymore =o[

Uhm, I believe this never worked in SokkOS since I have removed it deliberately. Let me explain.

1. You can still set the pattern length by editing the pattern in the default way, no sequencer running, just regular step edit.

2. You can clear a pattern now by hitting "chain+tempo" and then set the pattern length by hitting DONE at the preferred last step.

3. You don't need to step through the pattern while editing with the sequencer running to avoid to accidentally set a different pattern length than the current and erase that step. (Just hit DONE+DONE when finished, that's how I edit my patterns.)

Now, this is by my preferences, if you can convince me that it is better to be able to set the pattern length with the sequencer running(and risk ruining the pattern if you miss to step through) then I will change it! The firmware will not change in size because of it. :)

I just posted 1.8.1, this is 1.8 but with a hopefully final fix for the syncing problems when editing and saving a pattern. :)

Actually, in the previous version, you COULD edit the pattern length while the sequencer was running. That's how i used to do it =o]

Re: SokkOS, new modified firmware

found another timing bug im afraid, this time with the half tempo.

To recreate this use this pattern, (it doesnt matter what pattern you use but this helps you notice it easier)

use any drumbox or sampler and make a simple 4 on 4 kick pattern (step 1,5,9,13)
then on the x0x program a pattern with a C and accent on pattern step 1 and step 9
set x0x to pattern (midi sync)

press play on your drumbox, its in perfect time, press chain+tempo to go to half speed and you can hear the notes arent synced, half a tick or something (cant say exactly).
Pressing chain+tempo to go back to normal speed and its in sync again.

It just seems that half speed is out by a little, and toggling back to normal speed its always in sync, no matter how many times you toggle, normal is always in sync and half speed is always out a little.

can someone try to recreate this please

i always thought i'd not be able to upload sokkOS because c0ntr0l wont find my b0x, but last night i made a last desperate attempt and YES, i could upload sokkOS without any problem. seems you can do it even if the x0x is not recognized.

so, my dear sokkan... THANK YOU for writing sokkOS!
i have not yet tested all features over a longer period of time, but so far it works fine for me.
i totally LOVE the halftempo option!
