I'm interested in using the 3.7V 6600mAh battery with the solar li-po charger / mintyboost combo to power my outdoors arduino project.
The battery comes with a JST connector so you can plug the battery into the charger, but the JST wires are smaller gauge than the wires which come out of the battery. Is it safe to solder these together (red to red, black to black) even though are separate gauges?

That is not a problem. The smaller gauge wires are more than adequate for the currents encountered in that project.

Re: Solder JST to 3.7V 6600mAh Battery?
sorry to digg up an old topic but didnt want to start a new one as it seems to fit. I just received the 6600mah battery I'm wondering whats the best way to go to add the JST connector: extend the original wire, or remove the blue cover and solder the wire to the terminals? (removing the original). And if the latter, what to replace the cover with?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

Best to leave the shrink-wrap cover intact and splice to the existing battery leads.
