MintyBoost with iPhone 5S?

Post by krimb1 »

Greetings everyone!

Has someone successfully charged an iPhone 5S with MintyBoost v3? The compatibility list page (http://learn.adafruit.com/minty-boost/compat-v3) seems only to list to 5 ...

This is great news! Knowing it can be done is assuring ... since mine is not working :D

I've soldered together a MintyBoost v3 and used the stock iPhone 5S Lightning to USB cable but it doesn't register at all, not even as an "unsupported charger." What's curious is, while there's 5V difference between RED and BLACK, I also read a 4.9V difference between both GREEN and BLACK and WHITE and BLACK ... could that be the problem?

Perusing the instructions, I've already replaced my multimeter's battery with a fresh one but no luck. I've confirmed the current circuit charges for an iPhone 4S, iPad 4 (with Lightning connector), a Zoom H1 (portable audio recorder) and a Panasonic camera.

Attached are a few pictures. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Still no luck with the 5S charging ... Is it possible the MintyBoost unit is defective?

Sorry guys, newbie mistake ... soldered 75 ohm resistors instead of 75k ohm ones so the voltage on the two data pins (relative to black) was too high. iPhone 5s is charging properly now!

Just wanted to report in case this helps anyone!
