Please forgive my overall noob-ness, I come from a programming background and my experience with electronics is limited. I have done a little surface mount soldering (game console mobos) and I understand the very basics(I know what voltage, amps, watts, resistors, caps , etc. are, and their basic functions).
Edit: found out that my cell phone batteries are 3.8V.. so does this mean cell phone chargers output 5V due to loss of some kind???
I have a spare 3.8v 5200mAh LiIon from here:
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Extended ... 5200mah+s4
My Galaxy S4 now has a 7500mAh extended battery of the same size as the 5200mAh. So, I'd like to use the old 5200mAh to charge my current battery or extend its life. With so much capacity both batteries charge very very slow on 500mA chargers. I'd like it to deliver a minimum of 1.3A(ideally 2A).
Some one has already done some testing here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2274321
And 1.3A is what the stock charger/cord deliver (I assume this, then, is the max an S4 can draw?)
So can I use:

To charge the battery I mentioned above? And is there anyway to tweak it to 2A?
I'm kind of at a loss as to how I would go about getting the 5200mAh to deliver it's power at 1.3-2A. I believe I need a boost converter , but again am having a hard time finding parts.
Any help or guidance in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Re: MintyBoost Using Spare 5v Cell Battery?
To use your old battery as an extender for your phone, You need to boost your battery voltage to the 5v the phone's charge controller needs. This boost controller should do it.

Re: MintyBoost Using Spare 5v Cell Battery?
I think that is almost exactly what i needed. Thank you. Is there any way to boost the charging to the phone to 1.3-2A and the charging to the battery to at least 1A?
if I cant get it to the amps I want, would this work:

Though I'd need PCB and all other parts to get it working I guess.
So I guess I'll just use the mintyboost I ordered for something else. Should still be fun/educational to assemble.
