getting 7volts upon test. help needed

Post by medaganda »

I know if I'm getting more than 5v it's likely a resistor, I'm having trouble verifying which one, if one is at fault. My bat pack is outputting ~4 volts and I'm getting slightly over 7 out. My untrained eye Is no use. Your help is greatly appreciated. My skill level with this kind of stuff is limited to what I've "learned" by making this kit.

Also, dmforgot to mention the middle pin tests read at ~4v

You should touch up your soldering, there are a few connections that look a bit iffy. Take a look at this Soldering Guide

Also, can you measure the voltage at the battery inputs?

Went through and tested all my connections getting a reading off all of them and I touched a few of the worse ones still in high 7 volts

I think your meter is reading high. Even the freshest pair of alkaline batteries should not read higher than about 3.2v.

Some meters read high when the batteries get low. Try again with a fresh battery in your meter.

That did it. Wow. I had just assumed that it would only read low if the battery was low. My mistake. Thanks for the great and fast advice!
