5.5V on 12V line?

Post by Wrhector »

It seems odd but I am getting around 5.5v out of the 12V boost converter.

Could this be that it is the wrong way round, the chip is blown, or something else is. I am reluctant to swap it around anyway because I only have 1 (They are £4 each); I can't see any markings of direction on the chip; had to go by the picture and the text on the top.
I could order another as I need some more of the 3.3v (on my last 1) but wanted to wait until I'd mainly finished incase I needed other components (£12 delivery!!).

Is the chip meant to be receiving the ~4V in from the battery board or the 3.3 V line; the schematic is unclear.

Thanks.

Hmm Also my 28v supply chip started smoking :?

There must be something causing the short and possibly grounding the sense causing the 12v chip to go to 5v mode.

I guess it's search the board time...

Ok fixed it.

Basically the 12v and 24v rail inductors where shorted. Least the chips survived ^^
