Wave Bubble 2010b, improvements.

The operation of transmitters designed to jam or block wireless communications is a violation of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended ("Act"). See 47 U.S.C. Sections 301, 302a, 333. The Act prohibits any person from willfully or maliciously interfering with the radio communications of any station licensed or authorized under the Act or operated by the U.S. government. 47 U.S.C. Section 333. The manufacture, importation, sale or offer for sale, including advertising, of devices designed to block or jam wireless transmissions is prohibited. 47 U.S.C. Section 302a(b). Parties in violation of these provisions may be subject to the penalties set out in 47 U.S.C. Sections 501-510. Fines for a first offense can range as high as $11,000 for each violation or imprisonment for up to one year, and the device used may also be seized and forfeited to the U.S. government.

Wave Bubble 2010b, improvements.

Improvements for Wave Bubble 2010 version b.

Suggested ideas:
1) Improved documentation for construction.
a) Detailed photos of every step.
b) Detailed testing analysis with expected and measured values.
2) Include again the description for AAA/AA rechargeable batteries in design.
3) Include description of how to make and use home brew test equipment
4) Make a dedicated toggle switch for the major frequency settings, rather than cycling with a button, include also binary LED to show which one is on.
5) Suggest these improvements for an update to the wiki, and combine all improvements in a single PDF.
6) Attach pertinent references to the appendix of the PDF, while having a separate folder for high resolution images.

What I am requesting:

1) Suggestions for improvements for the Wave Bubble 2010 version b
2) Known hints and tips that those who have constructed this would like included in the PDF.

The buttons have to change on the wb2010b as they are not fit for purpose. these surface mount buttons are not designed to be mounted sideways on 2 pads. but mounted flat on the PCB soldered to 4 pads. the result is that the first person to press the power button who doesn't know how fragile the connection is, will break the tiny pads holding it by applying normal force. this is compounded by the minimal tactile feedback of the buttons.

This is relatively easy to accomplish, comment received and acknowledged.

Any other issues you have had using the device that you want fixed/improved?

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get rid of the ATMega and FT232RL combo, and replace it with an ATxmega32A4U which has a built in 2 channel DAC to replace the old method of tuning, it also has an internal USB transceiver.

i would suggest simplifying the design somewhat for the next iteration. and making it arduino compatible (both design and code), this would reduce the barrier to entry. Also I think we can drop a lot of the bad boy, semi legal attitude surrounding the project as anyone can buy a cellphone jammer for 19 dollars from deal extreme.
