im planning on buying the triple spokepov kit set
and im wondering is there a way to make (one of the kits?) be a different color
since all three are sold in one color.
also how i would go about to waterproofing the spokepov?
since its a common occurrence of me randomly riding through standing water on accident
or getting hit by crazy water sprinklers. oh and of course rain!
Waterproofing and different lights?

you can search the forum for waterproofing suggestions
you can also mix and match colors. it doesnt look as good. if you search the forum youll find a bunch of discussions on this as well

Re: Waterproofing and different lights?
i just found this thread about waterproofing http://forums.ladyada.net/viewtopic.php ... ing#p48212
and it sounds kinda difficult
also there was no followup post with results
but what i meant like with the lights, if i could replace it with different leds?
cause im going to have 2 SpokePOVs in the front and 1 in the back
or is it possible for me to order just one of the three in a different color?

if you want different colors, you cant order the special bundle they're for 3-of-one-color kits
you can buy LEDs on your own if you want and put whatever 5mm leds you'd like in place

Basically you need to cover everything to keep the water out. The external battery pack sounds like an easy way to help cover the batteries.
Anyway you can protect the electronics from water while still allowing the leds to shine all their brightness is good.
If making a case is to hard perhaps spraying a clear coat over it would be easiest.

Re: Waterproofing and different lights?
so i would spray it with a clear coat of electrical tape spray?
or could i use a clear coat of regular spray paint?
and a case?
like a straight up case for the entire spokepov?
how would i go about that?
i have the spokepov mounted but have yet to try waterproofing it

Re: Waterproofing and different lights?
If its fresh water I'm not sure its too much of an issue. Don't leave them outside in the weather, but if you get an occasional sprinkle on these low voltage boards I'm not sure it will mean much to them. If you go through a puddle the tires push the water to the sides like Charlton Heston parting the Red Sea. I guess if you went slow in a puddle more than 2" deep it would wet them but them when you rode fast the water would be forced off by the wheel motion.
I've never done anything to protect my boards which I leave on the bike year round. But on the other hand, I live in the desert, and it hardly ever rains here. Summer- hot, winter- less hot.
