FlatTop LEDs instead of Conical

Post by nitrodude150 »

Hey I was wondering if FlatTop LEDS on my SpokePOV would work better than conical because the angle of the light spread is increased. If anybody has got an idea any input would be great before I start Soldering! Thanks! :D

It might increase the viewing angle, but it would decrease the apparent brightness (same light energy dispersed over a wider angle) which would tend to decrease the POV effect as well.

I found the best LEDs to be the diffused lens type. It gives the most even illumination and fullest images. The intensity is less, but it's still plenty bright to be seen at night, and even the clear lens types that the kits ship with can't be seen during the day.
