Import Bitmap Error(s)

Post by phil.drummond »

I get these two errors when attempting to import my own image.
I do not get these errors when importing the sample images (bitmaps).
I tried opening one of the sample images and pasting my image into it and then saving the result to the same Folder (directory), same errors.
The file sizes are; original 1.6meg, new one = 1.2meg (I used "biohazy.bmp" as my sample file).

"BMP: Couldn't allocate image memory"
"Error in reading image DIB"

Here is a jpg of my file... yes I'm using the bmp version for import.

I'm sad. I had to clip my Spokepov(s) out of my cruiser for Thanksgiving at the campground. I'll try again later.

Ok, I tried again and still get the same error messages.
Then I tried creating an image from scratch and got the same error messages.
It's tough that after being delayed for so long after buying these things, that when I'm finally able to devote a little time to them I run into problems.
I'm attaching the bitmap I created from scratch and unless someone reply's to this thread I'm going to seek some other project to spend my time with.

These are blue LED SpokePOV's with the included USB SpokePOV programmer connected to an Apple iMac running Snow Leopard (v10.6.7)
SpokePOV v1.4 is installed and seems to work with the exception of this bitmap import issue.
(I would update to 10.6.8 or even install Lion if I was not getting a Kernel Panic every time I attempt to update to 10.6.8)

The SpokePOV units I have work as described with the included (default) images and with the additional provided sample images.
It's only when I modify the provided images or attempt to create my own images.

What is an "image DIB" and why does the SpkoePOV application fail to allocate resources for it's internal operation (BMP: Couldn't allocate image memory)

Why does this turn into my problem?

I tried creating a super-simple image and got the same results. You can download that image from the post before your last one.

Thank you.
