Button-Covers For Buttons

by nickwit on Mon Jan 21, 2013 7:32 pm

Hiya

I just bought some of these 5 way buttons

http://adafruit.com/products/504

AND THEY WERE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.

Quick question... they've got square cross-section stems... that looks as though some sort of "button" covering should fit over... a bit like the coloured bits here:

Does anyone know if such things exist, and if so, where to get them?

The buttons from the #1009 switches are a little bigger and a very loose fit. For the 5-ways, I have had better luck making buttons from Sugru.

So is there nothing commercially available then?

I make projects with a view to selling... and sugru doesn't quite make the grade as far as that goes.

Don't the people who manufacture them make them with a button-cover in mind?

There is no matching cover made for this switch - most customers would injection mold their own cover to match the enclosure used
