How to run stepper 10V or 12V without control shield

Post by gosbrut »

Hello,
I purchased the Motor Shield Kit v2.0, but i want first to know about how to control and run a stepper motor of 10V or 12V using arduino and other pieces like the L293D or the ULN2803 that both i purchased also.

It is possible, how to ?

Does this document will be ok ? : http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-ardu ... tors/parts

So, it is possible to run 10V or 12V using this tutorial and no shield ?
If so, excuse me, why the motor shield ? what advantages of a shield ?

I will use the Super motor nema 17 i purchased also, http://www.adafruit.com/products/324#Technical_Details
I read that it requires 2 bridges "Bipolar stepper, requires 2 full H-bridges!"

How can i connect to the arduino, using 2 bridges (well i have 2) ?

Yes

The V2 motor shield:
1 - handles higher current motors (1.2A vs 0.6A)
2 - Only requires 2 pins
3 - Can be stacked to control 120 motors with just 2 pins.

Each L293D chip contains 2 full H-bridges. You can connect your motors according to the tutorial.
