Untztrument

Post by rhizza »

Put together the Untz - yay! - and I've used it on both Windows and Linux, sort of. Right now my requirements are finding a free/trial synth for Windows. I tried Firebird, but the download seems to be just a plugin, there isn't an executable. I've been hitting up Dr Google, as suggested by the guide, but it hasn't been going well. There are an overwhelming number of results that come up from my naive search terms, and I've tried several so far and haven't had any luck, they are either super complex, such that finding out if the program will even work with the Untz is a PITA. Can someone point me in the direction of a basic MIDI synth for Windows 7 or 8, 32 or 64 bit is fine. Much appreciated!

Actually, it doesn't have to be free, at this point I'm willing to spend around $100 as long as it I have a good sense it'll work with the Untz behaving like a sequencer.

I've confirmed that Tone2 Saurus works:

Sorry I didn't have an answer for you last night. Saw your question but couldn't download anything, DSL connection was on the fritz. Glad you found something workable!

Midi-ox (or MIDI Monitor on mac) seems like the right tool.

I've also use fluid synth when I need a quick command line synth that accepts MIDI:

Just ordered my untz, I'm stoked!

Can the buttons on the UNTZtrument be spaced further apart to make room for labels?

I'm having trouble following the software instructions for Untztrument. After selecting TeeOnArdu (Leo on TeensyCore) under Tools->Board the next step is supposed to involve Tools->USB Type but there is no Tools->USB Type menu item. I tried first on version 1.06 of the IDE and then downgraded to 1.05 but still no Tools->USB Type menu. Running OS X 10.9.5. Any help or suggestions appreciated...
