Choosing a 3D Printer for a novice. Still Need Help Please!

Post by 3cm2 »

I am having a difficult time deciding which 3D Printer to purchase. I like the Makerbot Replicator 2 and the Printrbot Simple Metal. I have printing experience. The Makerbot is interesting because it has simple to use software and is ready to go out of the box. It seems to be sturdy. The Printrbot on the other hand is much cheaper, it has a auto levelling sensor. I am looking for a sturdy, long lasting 3D Printer. It must be easy to use, create good prints with little or no warping and low maintenance at a good price. Any suggestions?

What is your price range and what size objects are you planning to print and with what materials?

I was planning on using PLA. The least costly the printer the better. Preferably made in America. The build volume should be about 6 to 8 inches in all directions.
