Mini Cellular GSM Breakout SIM error

Post by herrdragon »

I have the Mini Cellular GSM Breakout which I connected to an Arduino. The fm radio works and other commands too but when I try to get info from a SIM card gives me an error. I tried two different Sim cards just in case but I get the same error.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

What error do you get?
What are the LEDs doing on the FONA?

Hello and thank you for your reply.
When I use the command 'C' I get "SIM CCID = ERROR". Both Sims I tried were T-Mobile's.

I am also having the same problem. I just got the FONA and when I insert the SIM and running "FONAtest" I get a strange readout. See below

ð
Unknown command
-------------------------------------
[?] Print this menu
[a] read the FONA basic test
Initializing....(May take 3 seconds)
FONA is OK
SIM card ""("acronym")International Mobile Station Equipment Identity"": 8607.........

But my FONA is responding with FONA is OK. Also I am using, from what the "Some suggestions from FONA users!" -tdicola, said I've had good luck using the FONA with a SIM from Walmart.

This is the SIM I got. but still I get

FONA> C
SIM CCID = ERROR
FONA>

FONA> n
Network status 0: Not registered
FONA>

Last I have a steady Blue light with a blinking Red light "no pauses between Red blinks" Please Help.

Don't mind the "SIM card ""("acronym")International Mobile Station Equipment Identity"": 8607........." some spam filter thing wont let me put I M E I

I would also like to add that my Red blinking LED is blinking every second continuously. I watched the product demo video and noticed the same Red LED is blinking every 4 seconds.

it sounds like its trying to talk to the SIM but it can't - do *any* SIMs you have work or are they all giving errors?

All of the sim cards here I tried and all give me the same SIM CCID = ERROR. all but the at&t one are activated. the walmart family mobile sim and t-mobile sim, I went and got a unlocked t-mobile phone just to try and it works with the phone.

I understand the FONA is still under development. but I believe I am having a different issue. any help is greatly appreciated
