Powerboost 500C and Terminal Block?

Hello, I need to know if it is ok to use the Powerboost 500C and a terminal block to hook up to a lightning connector (only the + and - pins) to charge an iPhone? or does the iPhone need to be hooked up to the data pins for some reason? Thanks!

Most iphones use some form of negotiation on the data pins for selecting a valid charger.

The Lightning connector is even more complicated.. the pins can be dynamically reassigned to carry power or signals, and contain an ID chip that the device polls:
