2303 USB to TTL Serial Cable, Mac Problems

Post by fredrikalm »

Hi,

I just purchased the 2303 cable from a local store, turns out they sold me the older black one and I can't get it to work on my Mac with Yosemite 10.10.1. I've installed the driver from md_PL2303_MacOSX_10_6up_v1_5_1.zip downloaded from the Adafruit product page and the cable doesn't show up in system information on my mac, and neither do I have any relevant device in /dev/ starting with cu, except for two bluetooth devices. Have I done something wrong or could my cable be broken?

Thanks in advance,

If you've installed the driver and don't see anything at the device recognition level, the chip is probably dead.

Talk to the vendor who sold it to you, and if you run into any problems post back here. We'll see what we can do to help.
