Hi!
I just received the Fingerprint Scanner and have been trying to get it to work with no success.
I read through all the other posts to see common issues.
Basic behavior is that the scanner shows the initial LED flash, however neither the SFGDemo software nor the fingerprint sketch are able to find the scanner.
Details:
Using and Arduino Uno (328).
I soldered the wired to header pins to make sure I would get a good connection. I then double-checked the solder connections.
I followed the tutorial instructions to the letter...
I made sure that for the SFGDemo the white wire was on pin 0, and green wire on pin 1.
For the fingerprint sketch I moved white wire to pin 3 and green wire to pin 2.
Since a an image of the hookup is often requested I have include the one for the fingerprint sketch:
Please let me know if you need any other information.
Based on the outcome of similar results it seems like I might have a bad scanner.
Thanks,
Charles.

Re: Fingerprint scanner issue
You've tried reversing the green and white wires?
Does the error message in SFGDemo pop up instantly, or does it take a few seconds to appear?

Re: Fingerprint scanner issue
Yes, I did try reversing them for both scenarios. Typically it took a while to respond. In some variations it was faster but usually around 10 seconds before the error message was displayed. This was the case for both the SFG software and the fingerprints sketch.
Additionally I tried it with a Duemilanova to make sure it wasn't an issue with the Uno.
Thanks.
Charles.

Re: Fingerprint scanner issue
Let's try replacing the sensor. Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement fingerprint sensor.
