TMP007 and Raspberry Pi 2

Post by antdes45 »

Hi,

I bought an Adafruit TMP007 breakout board from DigiKey last month and just tried to use it.

I already worked with an MCP9808 before, but I can't figure how to get the TMP007 working. i2cdetect doesn't find it, and I tried the following library with it and the TMP007 is not found. I'm powering it off 3.3V, and when connecting it with other sensors or alone, there's nothing on 0x40.

https://github.com/randymxj/OpenPythonS ... lib_tmp007

Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Reworked the solders without success, here's the front and back attached. I also tried changing addresses.

Weird though, I have the same serial number as this guy:

The numbers are date/lot codes for the PCBs, not device IDs per se.

Your solder joints look good.. could you post a photo showing your connections to the RasPi please?

I see, so it's not a lot code for the assembled PCB with the chip on.

Here's the breadboard closeup. I can take another shot with the Pi as well.

Nope.. we have our own pick-and-place line, and our fabrication teams do amazing work.

Your connections also look right. Do you have an Arduino that you can use to test the TMP007 in our known-working configuration? That's a good yes/no test for basic hardware function.

Great then!

I don't own any other I2C-capable boards apart from a Pi B+ and two Pi 2. All three found no sign of life.
I can buy an Arduino Uno ASAP but it could take 1-2 weeks until it reaches Canada.

Try Solarbotics https://solarbotics.com/catalog/arduino/

I found Canada Robotix about $10 less. However, I think I'll get both a Bus Pirate and Arduino. Canakit has the Arduino with holder, cables and more breadboards for the price of Solarbotics, and also has the lowest price I found for the Bus Pirate. Now we'll have to wait for a week until I get those through the mail.

Hello,

I have received the Arduino Uno 30 minutes ago and here's the result from the serial console:

Code: Select all

Adafruit TMP007 example
No sensor found
Here's the wiring:

I get 5V between solders on the TMP007 and continuity tested from vias on the Uno to solders on TMP007.

I2C scan with the Bus Pirate brings nothing either.
