SNES controller

I purchased an SNES controller and a GPIO 26 pin cable to hook up to my Raspberry Pi 2. Now I was thinking what if I want 2 players to be able to play at the same time with 2 separate controllers. I think this is possible since I saw consoles online that had 2 two separate controls. Can anyone explain to me what parts I will need to do this, and the process of how to do this, a you tube video or diagrams or website may be helpful.
