I purchased the raspberry pi 2 model b. Along with 7inch 40 pin display WITHOUT touch screen. Also the adafruit DPI TFT Kippah. Hooking it all up the screen or the Kippah or both have an issue. The "ribbon" wires that connect the screen to the Kippah will not stay in consistantly. When it is in good it falls out easily for no reason. Also when it is plugged in the screen itself is very dim. If I hang on to everything and position it just right, ( stand on one leg head held high other leg on chair :) ) it will be a bright white. When I let it go it either doesn't work at all or is very dim. Either way the screen is blank and the "ribbon" wire falls out. Picture shows dim screen. Not very apparent in the picture, this is it all put together and sd card with noobs and we see nothing.
Please help this was a Christmas present that was loved, he just can't use it yet. My invoice number is 954374 I do not have an order number that I see.
Thanks

It sounds like the connector for the flex cable isn't clamping properly.
Post a photo showing where the flex cable enters the connector and we'll take a look. 800x600 images usually work best.

Yep.. press the black tabs at both ends of the connector toward the PCB. Those operate the clamp that holds the flex cable's contacts against the pins in the connector.

Yes figured that out it is holding pretty good now. The screen is still dim. If move in the "perfect" position, and that is never the same, it does light up to a bright white. Still can not get it to show something on the screen.

The flex cable needs to be fully seated in the connector to work. It's really easy for the contacts to miss each other if the cable is skewed.
As far as getting the display to work goes, have you gone through the instructions in the tutorial? https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-dpi ... stallation

Yes I have tried to do the steps there, however it's difficult when there is nothing showing up on the screen. No commands or lines of code, nothing. The screen is a dim blue sometimes if I hold it just right it becomes a bright white also when I first put power to it I get a bright white flash for a second then it goes dim blue again. Still nothing to read or look at just blank. I did download raspbien to a micro sd nothing happens.

Re: Kippah and LCD screen not working properly keeps falling
You need to log into the RasPi through the network to do the setup steps.
Start by disconnecting the Kippah and connecting the RasPi to a keyboard and an HDMI display like a television. Log in with the default starting user and password (username: pi ; password: raspberry) and follow the instructions in this tutorial for the basic setup: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruits-ra ... figuration
Once you're done with the basic configuration, use this tutorial to get the RasPi connected to your network: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruits-ra ... work-setup
When you're sure the RasPi is talking to your network, enter the command:
to reboot the RasPi so you can make sure the ssh server works using this tutorial: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruits-ra ... -using-ssh
Once you know you can log in and enter commands from another computer enter:
to shut the RasPi down completely. Disconnect power from the RasPi, connect the Kippah, plug in the power to boot the RasPi, the log in via ssh so you have a command line.
From there, you can enter the commands for installing Kippah support.

Re: Kippah and LCD screen not working properly keeps falling
All of that will be extremely helpful only problem is I still can not get anything on the screen. I connected it to a tv via HDMI cable. Then when that didn't work I hooked it up to a computer monitor via an HDMI hookup. Still when I power it on I get a blank screen nothing like the links you gave me show. Connected it to an Ethernet as well. Still nothing. Really do not know what to do next or if something is wrong with it all together.

Okay, that's a problem deeper than the Kippah..
Disconnect the Kippah and try booting the RasPi from an SD card with the latest version of Raspbian Jessie. Does it boot to a login screen?

To verify the SD card, when you plug it into a desktop computer does it mount as a small removeable drive named BOOT, and containing (among other things) a file named 'config.txt'?

Re: Kippah and LCD screen not working properly keeps falling
Okay here is what I know so far... I had put raspbian wheezy on the micro sd first, that one I did look at in my computer ( mind you the computer I am using is running on vista right now, I didn't look at all the files however. Since you said to use Jessie I changed it and put Jessie on the micro sd. Looking at the file on the desk top computer I see the file and that's about it. It shows it as a IMG file not really seeing anything else on it. Unfortunately both Jessie and wheezy when I try and put it in the pi and hook it up to the desktop monitor via HDMI cable, I get nothing. Blank screen black. Does not matter if I have an either net attached or not still blank. The pi shows a red light and a green light and that's about as much life as I am getting out of it. :) HELP

Re: Kippah and LCD screen not working properly keeps falling
One more time, I stand corrected, wheezy and Jessie are labeled in my desktop as the above had said. I was referring to NOOBS that file I can see what is on it. NOOBS however did the same in the pi.... Nothing. Still HELP :)

Re: Kippah and LCD screen not working properly keeps falling
Since I can see noobs reloaded that and I can get something on my desktop monitor for noobs. Can I just use that since it has a "community-created port of Debian Jessie, optimized for the raspberry Pi"?
