Green LED not lit, hardware not recognised

Post by dragon599 »

I'm using the kit with Windows 7 64-bit. Whenever I plug it in, I get a 'USB Device not Recognised' popup, and the green LED does not light up.

Difficult to see because it's slightly out-of-focus, but it looks like there are quite a few bad solder joints on there. I've circled the ones that look suspicious to me, but you should check them all.

In many cases, the solder has not flowed completely onto the pad, meaning that the pad was not heated at the same time the pin was heated. You must heat both the pad and pin evenly to get a good joint.

If you post pictures of the other side, I can check your component placement as well.

I went over all of the joints, plugged it in and it works! Thanks so much for your help.
