Attaching Lilon/ LiPoly charging to Gemma.

Post by animator84 »

Hi, I am following your tutorial to make the Superhero power plant.
https://learn.adafruit.com/superhero-power-plant

All is well, but I'd like it to be chargeable via micro USB. Can anyone show me how to attach a Adafruit Pro Trinket LiIon/LiPoly Backpack Add-On
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2124
to this or any project? I referenced the "question block tutorial" but I don't really understand it just yet.

You should be able to connect BAT to 3.3V, G to GND, and 5V to Vin.

On the Gemma, I only see 3Vo , Vout , D0,D1,D2 and GND. There's no Vin, and also, is 3Vo the same as 3.3v?

Sorry. Use Vout for Vin, and 3vo is the same as 3.3V

But if I already have a LED circuit connected from Vout to GND , will anything short circuit if I connect the backpack to the same Vout and GND?

Hi , since I'll be attaching the backpack on gemma, I'm kind-of thinking to remove the JST male jack on the Gemma. Is there a tutorial on how to do it? (googling it didn't help) Thanks in advance

No tutorial on that. Desoldering the jack is probably a little tricky, but basically you would use a solder sucker and/or solder wick to remove as much solder as you possibly can.

Actually, the easiest thing might be to try to cut the pins to remove the body of the jack. then work on removing the pins individually. With the pins cut, you can maybe just heat them and pull them off with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Solder sucking may not even be necessary

Ah I get what you're saying. And just to be sure, the only connection between the jack and the board are just the pins ( are there any other catches / clips below the jack )?
And finally, the jack is pulled out vertically? or does it like, slide out from the side?
