Are you checking the board in NY with an ice bath and getting the right readings?

I un-commented all the Serial.prints (even the block commented one).
Here is the output after compiling and running:

we're confused, that looks pretty reasonable - the internal temp is 26C and the measured temp is ~23C

yes this a reasonable error for measuring room temperature.
However -3600 deg F for an ice bath?
Did you try to test an ice bath yet?

We'll try that today - can you post up the full output with hex debugging for an ice bath? We'll compare!

OK we tried another ice bath and got down to about 4 *C - can you show a log of it cooling down, at what point do you see the big problem?

Aren't you folks a little nervous about using the crimped spade lugs that are on the end of those thermocouples? Aren't you creating another separate cold junction? And, aren't you introducing another source for noise, etc.?

Hey so I just got my MAX31855 and downloaded the "new" libraries but I'm getting very similar results to those of ribo. Has the libraries changed in the last ~20 days?

I am also having trouble with negative readings. Seem to hover around -200 C to -300 C at room temp and it jumps around a lot. I can get it up to about -50 C if I pinch it between my fingers. Trying to determine if it is a bad board, thermocouple, or code. Internal temp appears to read fine. Anyone else still having trouble with this?

Make sure you have the latest libraries, and add a 0.1uF cap at the terminal block in parallel with the thermocouple.
