Hello,
I would like to use your Ultimate GPS on stratospheric balloons.
I've read you've got fix up to 27km. Does this means that it didn't worked on higher altitudes, or the balloon didn't arrived higher than that?
Anyone used it up to 36km or similar?
Thanks for your help,
Jose Luis

That is the highest altitude we have a confirmed test for so far. The manufacturer has removed firmware limits on altitude for us.I've read you've got fix up to 27km. Does this means that it didn't worked on higher altitudes, or the balloon didn't arrived higher than that?

Thanks for your help.
That means for us that is correctly working. Let's hope we can confirm something more close to 40km

Hello,
I've recently received a v3 version (1 week ago).
I've seen someone tested something and identified two different firmwares:

Mine, unfortunately is supposed to work only up to 27km, and this is not useful for me.
Is some way of flashing a new firmware?

These are pre-flashed at the factory. We do not have the facilities to re-flash them.

In future purchases, is there some way of getting the 40km altitude firmware?

Where did you get yours from? All current stock should be with the new firmware.I've recently received a v3 version (1 week ago).

I've got it from your web store. Purchase order 225384. The tracking says it's not delivered, but I have it

Re: Ultimate GPS for stratospheric Balloons
Hi - there's a little bit of misinformation going on. We sent a beta test firmware out to a UK tester to verify it can do higher altitude. However, -no- GPS modules we sell have that firmware on it. We had requested from the factory that our next shipment come with the newer higher-altitude firmware but that shipment hasnt arrived yet. The only GPS with the new firmware is the one the beta tester received. Once we do get the next delivery, all the GPS modules we make will come with the new firmware. However, that is 2 or 3 weeks away at best.
It seems like that beta tester went ahead and wrote up about our test without alerting us, causing much confusion because he had the single test module and there is no way to upgrade current burned firmware with the new higher-alt firmware
you can email support@adafruit to get a refund for your GPS but please alert that website that we are not selling that firmware (yet) and to please not get people's hopes up until we do We will post on the blog when we get the new firmware in!

I noticed that your stock status of the Ultimate GPS was recently out-of-stock but is now in-stock. Does your current inventory of Ultimate GPS breakout boards contain the GPS firmware that enables use of the module at or above 40km altitude for high altitude balloon use?
