Bluefruit EZKey Power Input

Post by uchobby »

Is there a schematic showing the power supply circuit on the Bluefruit?

Can the Bluefruit be powered from automotive 12V safely? The product pages says "3-16VDC" so you might think it should be fine, however there can be spikes on a car's 12V power. A liner regulator designed for automotive power (LM2940) would make it fine.. My question is whether or not I have to pre-regulate to protect the Bluefruit...

As you say, automotive power systems tend to have a fair amount of noise and spikes. A regulated supply would be nice, but you can probably get by with a god power-line noise suppression filter.
