FM Transmitter Breakout ANT Pinout

Post by Vanthios »

I was looking for an inexpensive way to add a personal FM station to my car for when my friends and I go on long drives and want to listen to music with one another in different cars. I found the FM Transmitter offered by Adafruit, which sounds like a great option, but it only provides single for up to 10 meters. Being that my friends don't drive that close to me because, well, it's dangerous, I was wondering if the board offers any way to expand the signal distance. When I looked on the product information and startup page, it didn't have anything on the ANT pinout, just every other pin.

So, does this mean that I could purchase an antennae from elsewhere and run the necessary connection the FM Transmitter Breakout board to expand my FM distribution range to let's say 200 or 300 feet? If not, how would I go about doing so?

The range is not dictated by the antenna so much as the broadcast power. There's no way to boost the signal enough to get a 300' range.
