Exposing a CC3000 to the public Internet
Any advice on the simplest/safest way to make a CC3000 server-based app reachable from outside my LAN? I'm assuming simple and safe are pretty much mutually exclusive. I guess my basic choices are NAT/port forwarding and creating a DMZ, but I'm not really sure where to start the research.

Setting up port forwarding or DMZ are functions of your router and should be in the documentation for it or in the router management pages of the router itself.

Do you have a block of externally visible IP addresses?
If you have a regular DSL connection you'll have a publically visible IP address, but it will change every time you reconnect. Your ISP may also change it periodically to keep people from hosting file sharing sites.

Re: Exposing a CC3000 to the public Internet
I have a cable modem with a dynamically allocated IP, but it hasn't changed in at least the last year. I would be the only person (hopefully) accessing the app, so I'm not that concerned about the IP changing out from under me. I do have documentation on how to set up a DMZ but I don't know if that's what I want to do.

This might help https://www.techsoupforlibraries.org/bo ... t/html/592 also Google for "consequences of setting up a DMZ" for more.
