AM2302

Post by mark brown »

I'm looking at the pinout on the AM2302 and comparing to the datasheet, it appears it is incorrectly wired. Just wanted to check before I tried hooking it up.

it appears it is incorrectly wired.
Could you explain what you mean by that? What are you seeing?

Looking at the front, there are three wires coming out of a 4 pin connector. L->R
0-empty
1-black
2-yellow
3-red
The Data sheet seems to indicate pins 0, 1, and 3 are used while 2 is not.
More confusing, the back of the board has V,D,G, and L
V-Red
D-Yellow
G-Black
L- Empty
Looking at the board from the back, the wiring color schema makes sense per the labels, and there are traces from V, D, and G to a spot for 3 header pins.

My reason for visiting the forum is the same as Mark Brown's. The software appears to work with my Uno because it keeps looping and saying it can't read the device. When I started troubleshooting I saw that the three wires go to adjacent pins of a 4-wire connector inside the case. Since it's based on a DHT22 and that part's datasheet says one of the two inner wires should be left unconnected I wonder if my inability to read it is due to faulty wiring. See attached photo.

That's the way mine is wired, and it works just fine.
Can you post some pictures of your wiring to the Uno?
