LSM9DS0 Magnetometer Issue

Post by markkanof »

I have the LSM9DS0 breakout board (https://www.adafruit.com/products/2021) connected to an Arduino Uno and using I2C to communicate with the board. Most of the readings from the board are what I would expect, but the magnetometer z-value does not change no matter which direction I turn the board. Other values change, but the z-value is always -2.62.

I have two of these boards, so I tried connecting the other one and it seems to work correctly. On the second board when I move it around the z-value changes.

Could you please suggest some debugging steps to figure out why the z-value of the magnetometer is not changing? I did find this additional forum post that describes the same exact problem with the FLORA version of this board (viewtopic.php?f=22&t=61191).

That sounds like a defect in the LSM9DSO chip. Please contact [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement.
