A frustrating CC3000 experience and some advice

Post by Barry914 »

I've been chasing a problem with my CC3000 based project for weeks, no luck. I've been using a breakout board and an Uno for this project and I couldn't find the cause of mysterious crashes. Yesterday I received a CC3000 shield, fired it up and all my problems seem to have gone away. It appears even a hint of extra resistance in the power supply or ground leads caused by a less than perfect jumper connection to the prototyping board is enough to freak out the CC3000. If you're breadboarding a circuit I'd suggest putting a fairly large value capacitor on the board next to the CC3000 power and ground pins. I'd probably use 100mfd or more.
