Arduino Uno,Fingerprint Scanner, SFGDemo communication issue

Hi,

I am currently trying to enroll new fingerprints by using SFGdemo with Arduino Uno. I soldered extra wires in order to get a better contact and wired up the sensor as described in https://learn.adafruit.com/downloads/pd ... sensor.pdf. Before connecting the sensor to Arduino, I uploaded the blank sketch and then connected the sensor to Arduino. I entered the COM PORT which Arduino using. However, I am continuously getting a message" Open device fail ". Could you inform me what might be the problem please?

Unfortunately, I've seen this issue with SFGDemo. There are two possible problems. How long does it take before the error message pops up?

If it happens immediately, it is a problem with SFGDemo itself that I've never been able to overcome.

If it takes a few seconds for the error message to pop up, then it's a problem with your wiring.

Unfortunately,Error message is appearing too quick. Is there any other software which I can use to enroll fingerprints instead of SFGdemo?

That is an infuriating problem. I have the same problem on my Windows 7 machine. I've never been able to get it to work. Sorry.

You can use our Arduino example sketch for enrolling.
