Hello all,
Searched all of the ft232h postings before I created a new one...
Has anyone run the part in fifo mode (async or sync) and still had the ability to bit bang a few pins. I read the data sheet and I think this is possible but the sheet is unclear about pins not explicitly used in any given mode.
The background is I want to connect a custom CPU and write to the ft232h as a fast as the cpu will allow. Then when the data is received and acted on up stream, I want the upstream python program to be able to set a bit to trigger an interrupt on the custom cpu.
Thanks for any feedback,
Michael

Re: ft232h fifo mode and bit banging
Thanks for checking out the FT232H board! Hrm good question, I haven't really used the FIFO modes on the chip much myself. However the GPIO access uses the MPSSE part of the chip and I think that can only be used by itself and not in any other modes like FIFO, UART, etc. It definitely doesn't work with the UART mode because the UART driver needs to be unloaded to use the MPSSE mode. I have a strong suspicion it also wouldn't work with the FIFO mode because that's a high level mode like MPSSE.
